STEP-BY-STEP

  1. Select a 12-inch-square slate tile, and affix 11/2-inch felt pads (#54111) to the underside of the tile at each corner.
  2. Using chalk, draw a grid on the tile. If desired, spray the tile with a clear topcoat (#39449, #282329).
  3. For game pieces, choose polished stones (#139462) from the garden center. Draw Os on dark stones using white paint, and mark Xs on light stones using a black permanent marker.

These are wonderful!  So many adventures and places to explore on your very own floor.  I started a search for these and found this site:

http://zenseeker.net/Kid/PlaySurfaces-RoadRugs.htm

It has it all, to include picture and links of many DIY homemade road rugs and mats.  It is a must see.
